📱About Remosse

QWhat kind of app is Remosse?

Remosse is a 1:1 video calling app built for music lessons (piano, voice, strings, and more). The host (who issues the QR code) shares a QR code; the guest scans it to start a low-latency call.

  • Officially supported on iPhone and iPad (iOS 17.6 or later)
  • Calls support up to two people (1:1)
  • Guests always join for free; only hosts need a paid monthly plan
QDo guests pay anything?

No. Guests use Remosse completely free—installing the app, scanning QR codes, and joining calls costs nothing.

QDo you support Windows, Android, or browsers?

The Remosse app officially supports iPhone and iPad. As of v1.4, guests can also join a lesson from a web browser using an invite link or QR code—no app installation needed.

  • Guests: Remosse app on iPhone/iPad, or browser join via invite link (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  • Hosts: iPhone/iPad app only

Browser join from Android and Windows is under testing. For the most reliable experience we recommend the iPhone/iPad app.

On Apple silicon Macs, Remosse can be installed from the App Store as an iPhone/iPad app, and core features such as video calls are usable. However, it is not optimized for Mac screen sizes or behavior, so layout, camera/microphone selection, and notifications may differ from iPhone or iPad.

QHow do I sign in?

We primarily support Sign in with Apple. Choose it on first launch to get started.

You can also use “guest mode” without signing in to scan QR codes and join calls, but iCloud sync and the free trial require signing in.

💳Plans and quotas

QHow many paid plans are there? What do they include?

There are four plans: Starter, Basic, Standard, and Pro. Check current pricing in the app (App Store).

PlanQR issuances
(per cycle)
Time pool
(per cycle)
Daily call cap
Starter66 hours (360 min)2 hours
Basic1516 hours (960 min)3 hours
Standard3026 hours (1,560 min)6 hours
Pro6048 hours (2,880 min)12 hours
  • Beauty filters: Standard and Pro get all 20; Starter and Basic get 6 core filters
  • Background images: Standard and Pro get 20; Starter and Basic get 10 (none and blur available on all plans)
QWhat is the “remaining time pool”?

It is the total lesson time you can still assign to new QR codes in your current billing cycle (until your subscription renews). Each time you issue a QR code, the minutes you choose are deducted from this pool.

For example, on Basic (16-hour pool) if you issue three 60-minute lessons, the pool becomes 16h − 3h = 13 hours.

The pool reflects “planned lesson capacity,” not actual call minutes used.
QDoes unused pool time roll over to the next month?

No. The time pool and QR issuance counts reset on your subscription renewal date. Unused quota does not carry over.

QIf I upgrade mid-cycle, what happens to my remaining time?

Your current cycle continues—QR counts and pool balance are not reset. Only the plan limits change to the new plan’s caps.

Example: on Basic with 200 minutes left, upgrading to Standard keeps 200 minutes while raising the cap to 26 hours.

QWhat happens if I downgrade or cancel?

Per App Store rules, downgrades and cancellations take effect at the next renewal; your current plan stays until then. After renewal, the new plan (or free tier) applies.

QR counts and the time pool reset to the new plan’s limits on that date.

QWhat is the daily call cap?

It is the maximum host call time per calendar day. When you hit it, you cannot start more host calls until midnight (local reset). This is separate from the time pool.

QWhat is the maximum length of one lesson (call)?

The duration you pick when issuing a QR code is allocated to that lesson (e.g. a 60-minute QR starts with 60 minutes on the timer). You can choose 15–180 minutes.

During the call the timer counts down; when it reaches zero the call ends. The system session limit is 3 hours.

QWhat happens after I cancel or my subscription expires?

You’ll see the free tier. You can’t issue QR codes or start host calls, but you can still view past lessons and join as a guest.

If you previously had a paid plan, you cannot return to the free trial after cancelling.

QIs there a pay-as-you-go option besides the monthly plans?

Yes. Lesson Pass is a pay-as-you-go in-app purchase you can buy only when you need it, without committing to a monthly subscription. Check current pricing and contents in the app (App Store).

Lesson Pass is a consumable in-app purchase—there is no auto-renewal. You use what you buy.

🎁Free trial

QIs there a free trial?

Yes. Everyone who signs in with an Apple account gets:

  • Up to 4 QR issuances during the trial
  • Up to 3 hours of calls in total
  • 14 days from first use
  • No limit on number of calls (split the 3 hours however you like)
QWhen does the trial start?

It starts when you first issue a QR code or start a call as a host. The 14-day clock does not start immediately after sign-in—you choose when to begin.

QIf I subscribe and then cancel, can I use the trial again?

No. Once you join a paid plan, the free trial ends. After cancellation or expiry you’re on the free tier and cannot go back to the trial.

QCan I delete lessons during the trial?

Lesson deletion is not available on the trial. Use your QR issuances and time as issued. Upgrade to a paid plan if you need deletion with quota refunds.

🔑QR codes and lessons

QWhat is the flow from issuing a QR code to starting a call?
  1. The host taps “Issue QR code,” picks a lesson length, and generates the code
  2. Share the QR code or invite URL via LINE, email, print, etc.
  3. The guest joins using one of two options:
    • App join: open “Join with QR” in the Remosse app and scan the code
    • Browser join: tap the invite URL to join from a web browser (no app needed)
  4. The guest requests to join; when the host approves, the video call connects
QWhat does “lesson duration” mean when issuing a QR code?

It is the time budget for that one lesson (call). Choose from 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 minutes, or enter any value from 15–180 minutes.

That amount is deducted from your cycle’s time pool, and the call ends automatically when the timer runs out.

QCan I schedule a lesson date and time?

Yes. When issuing a QR code you can set a start date and time together with the lesson name, up to 30 days from today.

If you skip a time, the lesson is treated as “join anytime.”

QCan I send one QR code to multiple people?

Calls are 1:1 only (host + one guest). Only one guest can join per QR code.

QDo QR codes expire?

After about two months from issuance, codes may be archived automatically. While valid, you can share the same QR with your guest as needed.

QWhat does “QR issuances this cycle: X / Y” mean?

It shows issued count / plan limit for your current billing cycle (until renewal). When you hit the limit you can’t issue more until the cycle resets.

QI don’t have enough pool time to issue a QR code. What can I do?

Try one of the following:

  • Pick a shorter duration (e.g. 60 → 30 minutes)
  • Wait until your next renewal when quotas reset
  • Upgrade for a larger pool
  • Delete an unneeded lesson—under some conditions time may return to the pool (see Deleting lessons)

🚪Joining, saving, approval

QWhen can I join a lesson with a scheduled start time?

You can join 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Before that you can save the lesson or add it to Calendar or Google Calendar.

Lessons without a scheduled time can be joined right after scanning.

QWhat’s the difference between “Save” and “Join now” after scanning?

Join now goes straight to the join flow. It appears for lessons without a time, or within 15 minutes of start.

Save adds the lesson to your list for later. For upcoming lessons you can add to calendar after saving.

QDoes the host need to approve my join request?

Yes. When a guest enters, the host sees a join request. After the host taps allow, the guest’s audio and video connect.

If the host isn’t in the call yet or the network is slow, wait a moment and try again.

QI see “Capacity reached.”

Remosse supports at most two people (host + one guest). If a guest is already connected, another guest cannot use the same QR.

Ask the host to issue a new QR for a different participant.

QI scanned a QR code but can’t join or save.

This can happen when:

  • The QR code has expired
  • The lesson ended because its time budget was used up
  • The host cancelled the lesson
  • The lesson has a start time and you’re trying to join more than 15 minutes early

If the code expired or was cancelled, ask the host for a new QR.

🎵Call quality and video

QIs the audio quality suitable for music lessons?

Yes. In-call audio has TALK mode (conversation-focused, stronger noise reduction) and MUSIC mode (better for instruments and singing). Switch modes to match your lesson.

QWhen using the built-in microphone on iPhone / iPad, my instrument sounds quiet to the other person. How can I fix it?

The iOS Mic Mode may be the cause. When set to Voice Isolation or Automatic, iOS prioritizes the human voice and suppresses surrounding sound — including the instrument you are playing.

To send your instrument's sound as it is, we recommend Wide Spectrum. Remosse guides you through this on your first call, but you can change it at any time.

How to change it (during a call)

  1. Start a call in Remosse with your microphone on
  2. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center
  3. Tap Remosse Controls — the green button showing the app name at the top
  4. Under Audio & Video, select Wide Spectrum as the Mic Mode

Mic Mode is not shown on the first screen of Control Center — it appears only after you tap the app name button in step 3. If you still can't find it, make sure you're in a call with the microphone on.
Note that using this setting with Remosse requires iOS 26 or later. On earlier versions Control Center shows "Mic Mode is unavailable" — in that case no change is needed (Remosse won't show the guidance either).

This setting applies only to Remosse and does not affect phone calls or other apps. Once set, it stays that way for future calls.

For details, see Apple's support page.

QCan I use beauty filters and virtual backgrounds?

All plans can use them; the catalog depends on your plan.

  • Beauty filters: Starter/Basic get 6 core filters; Standard and Pro get all 20
  • Backgrounds: None and blur on all plans; image backgrounds: 10 on Starter/Basic, 20 on Standard/Pro
QHow much data do calls use?

Roughly similar to typical video apps (TALK mode lower, MUSIC mode somewhat higher). Wi-Fi is recommended when possible.

QCan I check network quality before a call?

Use Network check in Settings before important lessons.

Targets: 2 Mbps or faster, latency 150 ms or less, packet loss under 3% (rough guide for 720p / 24fps). Results are estimates.

QCan I use an external mic or audio interface?

Yes. On the pre-call preparation screen you can select your microphone input device (works on both iPhone and iPad). Connect your external mic or audio interface before launching the app, and it will appear in the list.

🎬Recording

QCan I record lessons? Where is the recording stored?

Yes. You can record video (with audio) or audio only. Recordings are stored securely in the cloud, and during the retention period you can play, share, or save them to your device from the recording playback screen opened from the button at the top right of the lesson list.

This version supports cloud storage only (there is no direct on-device recording mode). Because recordings live in the cloud, you keep your recording playback list when you switch devices and sign in with the same account.

QHow much can I store, and for how long?

Cloud storage capacity and retention depend on your plan.

TierCapacityRetention
Free trial10 GB30 days
Paid plan10 GB30 days

Video is roughly 1 GB per hour; audio-only is very small. If you reach the limit, delete recordings you no longer need and try again.

Recordings are automatically deleted after the retention period. To keep one, save it to your device or share it before it expires.
QWho can start a recording, and will the other person know?

Only the lesson host can start recording.

For privacy, a “Recording” badge is shown to everyone in the lesson while recording is active, and guests join knowing the lesson may be recorded. Recording never starts silently.

📺Show on a big screen (HDMI / AirPlay)

QCan I show the lesson on a TV or external display?

Yes. You can show the other person’s video on a big screen in either of these ways:

  • Connect by cable with an HDMI adapter to an external display or TV
  • Connect wirelessly to an AirPlay device (such as Apple TV)
Only the video is sent to the big screen. Audio still plays from your iPhone/iPad (the external device does not output sound).
QCan I choose which video (the other person or myself) goes to the big screen?

Yes. During a call you can switch the big-screen video between the other person and yourself. While your camera is off, the big screen shows a note to that effect.

When you disconnect the external display, the target returns to “the other person” and your own video goes back to the handheld screen.

QCan I use the browser big-screen viewer and AirPlay at the same time?

No. The browser big-screen viewer and AirPlay output cannot be used at the same time. Please use one or the other.

💻Join or host in a browser (Web)

QCan I join a lesson from a desktop browser?

Yes. Guests can open the invite link and join from a browser—no app install required.

  • Supported browsers: desktop Chrome / Edge / Safari, and mobile Safari (latest versions recommended)
  • Camera and microphone permission is required
  • A lesson supports one guest at a time (group joining is not supported)
QCan I host a lesson from a desktop browser?

Yes, but it requires pairing with the Remosse app on your iPhone (QR or 6-digit code). You cannot start hosting from a browser alone.

This lets you run the lesson on a large screen while authorization and recording start/stop are handled securely together with your iPhone.

Browser hosting sessions expire. As the expiry approaches, you’ll see a prompt to reconnect—follow it to reconnect from your iPhone.
QAre any features unavailable in the browser (app-only)?

Some features have limited browser support or are app-only.

  • Virtual backgrounds: desktop Chrome / Edge only
  • Switching the speaker (audio output): not supported in Safari
  • Subtitles, translation, and metronome: app only
For full access to these features, please use the iPhone/iPad app.

🔔Notifications and widgets

QWhat notifications will I receive?

With notifications enabled you may get:

  • 15-minute reminders before scheduled lessons
  • Host alerts when a guest joins a lesson
  • Important service announcements
  • Free trial day estimates

You can turn notifications off and still use your lesson list, QR scanning, and calls.

QCan I change notification settings?

Yes. Use the device Settings app to change Remosse’s notification permission. Inside Remosse you can toggle 15-minute lesson reminders and host alerts when a guest joins a lesson.

QI’m not getting the “Host has joined” notification.

This notification—letting a guest know the host has joined—can only be received by guests who are signed in with Apple or Google. It is not delivered when you join via “Continue as guest.”

To receive it, sign in and allow notifications. You can still join lessons without signing in.

QWhat does the “Next lesson” widget show?

It shows the next upcoming saved lesson on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. Tapping opens join prep if there’s a scheduled lesson, or your lesson list if not.

Refresh timing depends on iOS; it may take a moment to update.

🗑️Deleting lessons and quota refunds

QIf I delete a lesson, do I get QR issuances or pool time back?

It depends on your plan and the lesson state.

PlanDelete before startDelete within 30 min after startDelete after 30 min
Starter
Basic
Standard
1 QR issuance + full pool time back Pool time only (QR already consumed) No refund (delete still allowed)
Pro 1 QR issuance + full pool time back Pool time back regardless of elapsed time (QR still consumed)
Trial Lesson deletion is not available

Refunds apply to your current billing cycle. A toast after deletion explains what was restored.

QI deleted a lesson but my pool or QR count didn’t change. Why?

Common reasons:

  • Subscription data still loading (most common): Right after renewal or upgrade, App Store data may lag and refunds are held briefly. Wait or background the app and return—values usually sync automatically.
  • QR count already at 0: Counts can’t go below zero; pool time may still increase.
  • Outside refund rules: On Starter–Standard, deletes more than 30 minutes after start don’t refund time.
If you see “Quota refund pending” in the list header or QR screen, it will apply after subscription info syncs.
QRight after upgrading, I deleted a lesson but quotas didn’t update.

After an upgrade the app may still be fetching new subscription dates from Apple, so refunds can be temporarily pending.

The list header shows “Quota refund pending” while waiting. Bringing the app to the foreground usually completes sync within seconds to a few minutes.

Pending states older than about seven days are discarded.
QMy QR count is “0 / limit.” If I delete, can pool time still come back?

Yes. Issuance count won’t go below zero, so the count may stay at 0 while pool minutes can still increase when rules allow. The toast shows what changed.

QIf a guest deletes an invited lesson, does the host’s quota return?

No. A guest removing a lesson from their list only clears their local list. It does not change the host’s QR count or time pool.

☁️Account, devices, and sync

QCan I delete my account and data?

Yes. When signed in with an Apple account, open Settings in the app and choose Delete account and data. Follow the confirmation steps (you may need to type delete to confirm).

This removes, within Remosse’s scope, lessons you host, guest-saved lesson copies, display name profile, and related records in this app’s CloudKit container, and may clear some on-device caches and sign-in trial data. Network issues can prevent complete deletion.

You don’t need to redo onboarding; you can keep using the app as a guest.

To cancel a paid subscription, use App Store subscription management. Deleting account data does not stop billing.

See section 8 of the Privacy Policy for details.

QWhat doesn’t get deleted with “Delete account and data”?

This action deletes data Remosse controls. You must handle separately:

  • Your Apple ID itself or Sign in with Apple app connections
  • Google accounts (if applicable)
  • App Store subscriptions and billing
  • Data held only on another user’s device or cloud
  • Logs or backups we must retain for legal or operational reasons

Always cancel paid plans in App Store subscription settings.

QWhat’s the difference between sign-out and “Delete account and data”?

Sign out disconnects your Apple account on this device. CloudKit lessons or profiles may remain in iCloud.

Delete account and data deletes Remosse-managed cloud and local data within the described scope (see the Privacy Policy for exclusions).

QCan I use Remosse on multiple devices?

Yes, on devices signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud enabled. QR counts, time pool, and lesson lists sync via iCloud and CloudKit.

QIf I delete and reinstall the app, is my data lost?

With iCloud enabled for the same Apple ID, QR counts, pool balance, and lessons are stored in CloudKit and typically restore after reinstall.

If iCloud is off or you sign in with a different Apple ID, data won’t carry over.

QCan I restore purchases on another device?

Yes. In Settings, use Restore purchases on a device signed in with the same Apple ID.

📅Calendar

QCan I add a lesson to my calendar?

After scanning a QR code and saving the lesson, guests can add it to the device Calendar (Apple Calendar) or Google Calendar.

  • Apple Calendar: one tap to add (Calendar permission required)
  • Google Calendar: opens a browser compose screen—you must tap Save
QI tapped “Add to calendar” but don’t see the event.

Please check:

  • Settings → Remosse: Calendar access (full access) is allowed
  • You’re viewing the correct date in the Calendar app
  • For Google: you tapped Save in the browser (the app cannot save for you)
